Weekly World News wrote that Facebook was ending by March 15th the Saturday prior to the event. They had quotes from founder Mark Zuckerberg stating that he was done with Facebook and that it had ruined his life. The Weekly World News told all Facebook users to delete all of their own personal pictures and profiles before March 15, 2011.
This article was a complete hoax and was said to be written by a company that also writtes about UFO sightings and was not a credible source. Fortunately, this type of news had it's users worried that their Facebook live's were going to torn away from them. This hoax may have shown user's how much Facebook communication really means to them. On the other hand, this hoax could have lost some of its users due to their shift of independence away from Facebook upon reading/hearing that Facebook was shutting down.
Facebook is so widely used by so many people it is not suprising that there would be some sort of negative frantic news. However, Facebook is so commonly used by people that this hoax only lasted so long before it was figured out and settled. Also, this hoax was presented at the time of Facebooks growth and was surpassed by all of the in-coming users.
Do you think that this hoax had any effect with Facebooks viewer database?

Some Helpful Hints For Marketers
Chris Brogan of New Marketing Labs discusses how marketers should pay attention to how they develop their social media platforms. Marketers have to get to know the customer more now and can’t ‘jump’ people like advertising does with its ‘push’ marketing. There has to be a relationship through way of more than just paper work and performance measures. There is a lot of opportunity to make appealing content in a personalized way more attuned to the customer and/or client. This can be done by way of blogs, tweets, and comments through way of up-and-coming event news and incentives for participators. There are far numerous routes to go with social media, and it must be done well. There has to be a full presence through way of retaining prospects through relationships and not ‘running’ away when ones’ organization has made a mistake or failure. Simplicity can be key to building a social media site or website, because there doesn’t have to be a bunch of flashes and bangs and can get down to how the company can help you and how can they solve your problem personally. This process takes time to fully incorporate it through a business and requires more time through involvement. This video interested me, because it would be terrible to waste time and money through way of an organization and the marketers incapability of producing critical social media sites for a company.
